In addition to state requirements, the City of Pueblo requires a license to operate a retail marijuana store within the city limits. Per Title XI- Article III – Section 11-11-308(6b), a $20,000 surety bond must be submitted and maintained with the city as part of the licensing requirements. This surety bond guarantees that the principal reports and pays all sale and use taxes due to the city. If the principal fails to pay their taxes, the surety will pay out up to the penal sum of the bond. The bond has a 1 year term and can be renewed with a continuation certificate issued by the surety company. Please visit the City of Pueblo website for additional information and to verify that applications are being accepted.
